One of the unique features of Scouting is its Promise
You will be expected to make your Promise when you are invested. You (and the Leaders!) are encouraged to apply the Promise to your daily lives. It is:
‘On my honour, I promise that I will do my best, to do my duty to God and to the Queen, to help other people and to keep the Scout Law’
By making your Promise, you become a Member of the worldwide Scout Movement. There are alternative wordings of the Promise for members of faiths for whom the original wording is inappropriate.
You make your promise in front of the other Scouts at an Investiture ceremony, which is your formal welcome to the Troop. As part of your Promise, you also promise to keep the Scout Law, which is a series of positive statements of the ways in which the Promise can be lived out. It is:
