Parents of Cub Scouts and Scouts, as well as the Leaders and Helpers within the Group, are all automatically members of the Group Council
The Group Council must hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) within six months of the financial year-end, to approve the Annual Report of the Group Executive Committee, including the annual statement of accounts.
It must also approve the Group Scout Leader's nomination of the Group Chairman and nominated members of the Group Executive Committee and elect a Group Secretary and Group Treasurer.
Wedmore Group usually holds its Parents’ Night & Annual General Meeting at the Scout Hut in September, and is often accompanied by a slide show and/or entertainment by the Cubs and Scouts.
Since helping with ‘committee work’ is not concerned with the running of the ‘uniformed’ programme of the Group, lack of knowledge concerning the Scout Movement is not a barrier to becoming involved. Indeed, if you have an interest in seeing the Group prosper, you are perfectly qualified to be appointed to the Group Executive Committee, or at least, to help in some other way. Don’t be afraid to bring experience you may have from working in other organisations or business - we can all learn!
